KOG... A peaceful Cafe Oasis, in the heart of the Glasgow's Merchant City
The Kog is a non-profit project of the Glasgow Central Fellowship Trust (A charity registered in Scotland number SCO27597).
It exists as a centre for the community that hopes to be an alternative social venue to pubs and clubs for young people, while developing a place for the arts to grow and flourish within our local community.
Work is still underway in the basement section of the building which will expand our seating area of the Kog, along with providing many multi-use rooms for artists; a recording studio, photographic dark room, painting and craft studios, a conference room, and offices.
What is a Collaborative?
A collaborative artist in this definition is a creative person who is willing and able to work (act as a team) with others, to be part of a group that provides feedback and training, accountability, and relationship.
This sort of group gives opportunity for creatives with all levels of skill and experience to experiment and gain confidence in the arts.
Together, as a collaborative, we pool our resources on projects, putting together a portfolio or presentation of our work which may take the form of an exhibition, one off event, festival, series of events, workshops etc. For example, dancers may work together with musicians, who in turn may provide backing for a video or multi media presentation, using spoken word artists to raise awareness of a particular issue or thought. This can be as small or as large as is possible or desired.
Who can join?
Anyone who is creative (in any way shape or form!) can be a part of the collaborative
Our space is available for arts of all kinds; musicians, songwriters, poets, storytellers, visuals arts, sculpture and ceramics, multimedia, video and film, dance, theatre, photography, and crafts.
Goals and Objectives
It is our intention to be a group of people coming together with the objective of creating and developing ourselves into a team of mature artists that will effectively reach out to the local community.
To become skilled in our creative gifts so that we can express our thoughts, values, and beliefs in ways that are relevant within the local arts community and will also be appealing to young people of our city.
To advance into a different way of life as artists
We want to build the individual artist whilst at the same time learning to work with others. - Promoting healing and wholeness amongst individuals, and taking this out into our community.
How we will accomplish it
Providing feedback, training, relationship and accountability with like-minded people.
Giving opportunity for emerging artists to experiment and gain confidence in the arts.
Make our space available for arts of all kinds; musicians, songwriters, poets, storytellers, visuals arts, sculpture and ceramics, multimedia, video and film, dance, theatre, photography, and crafts.
Providing a way of stepping into spiritual and creative gifting in a safe environment, through prayer, discipleship, and setting attainable goals for ourselves.
